Coaching Climbing Movement

Coaching Climbing Movement
This evening workshop looks at how and what to teach when it comes to coaching climbing movement either inside or outside. It is a great way to improve your own technique and learn what to look out for when coaching.

Coaching climbing movement is a branch of skill acquisition, whereby we as coaches can develop an individuals overall skill for climbing through introducing and developing motor skills. By the end of this evening course, you will not only be able to break down skills into a progression for those you are teaching, but you might even find your own skills will be developed. During the typical evening session of coaching climbing movement we cover:

  • Agility, Balance and Coordination
  • Centre of Gravity awareness
  • Footwork and Body Position
  • Rock Over’s
  • Games for Fundamental Movement
  • Accuracy and Precision of Feet

This course will be of interest to SPA and MIA award holders and trainees, as well as parents or in-house trained staff who want to understand more about how to teach and coach.

Essentially we are going to teach you about efficient climbing movement and what to look for when coaching people and how to corrent the major and most common errors. However the skills we start teaching you fit into teh large picture of coaching with the ability to set a objectivem, analyze the performance to that objective standard and then give feedback in order to imnprove somes performance. As such this will be more than just a what to teach session.
