I had the privilege of climbing with Mark for two months and I quickly learned that he possess the perfect mix of rock and book smarts. Not only is he one of the best climbers I have ever met, but he has the education and training to translate complex physical and mental climbing concepts into material that is easily absorbed by those who are new to the sport. At the same time, I was also able to observe Mark engage his skills in ways that challenged even the most seasoned climbers in my group. I had the pleasure of being one of Mark’s students about three years ago for climbing courses in Europe and South America. His style of instruction and mentoring still resonates with me to this day. In fact, I have found myself using his methodology throughout my time working as a climbing instructor on a professional and personal basis.
